Fertilising Products Regulation voted on 27 March 2019

On Wednesday, 27 March 2019, European Parliament voted to approve the Compromise on the Fertilising Products Regulation (FPR). This agreement favours a circular, bio-based economy and sustainable agriculture in many ways:

  • EU farmers will have access to the same fertilising products to allow them to manage plant nutrition and soil fertility sustainably;
  • Plant biostimulants and other EU fertilizing products will meet high standards and compete on a common footing by the introduction of environmental and human safety parameters;
  • The access of Plant biostimulantsfor the first time to the EU market will promote the growth of a highly innovative industry.

The agreement provides a base for making European policy and farming practices fit to meet the challenges of sustainable agriculture.
